should we donate food or money (wealth) to the poor.

we can donate anything to the needy as per needy person requirement. but food need must be addressed. and one must donate more food than money/wealth as per Sanathana Darma.

in the story, karna was the character in Mahabharata epic story, in which he donates lot of gold/wealth to all the poor so after he goes to Swarga after his death he was offered many luxurious and materialistic pleasures but was not given any food.  then he took birth again and donated food to the poor.

so as per scriptures food donation is best than money.
