why do we do shraddha only once every 1 year
why do we do shraddha only once every 1 year
that is bcoz, if our ancestors are in deva loka or swarga, 1 year on earth is equal to 1 day for them . i.e uttaryanam is a period of 6 months which is day for them and dakshinayanam is another 6 months which is night for them. this is the period or night where Lord vishnu sleeps in vaikunta. for him it is 1 night sleep, which is 6 months for us.
so we keep food on every day for our ancestors which is 6 month on our loka -- bhuloka.
as per sanathana darma yogi eats once a day, bhogi 2 times, and rogi 3 times. so thinking that our ancestors are yogi we keep food for 1 time everyday as per their place or lokha, which is 1 year for us.
This time is also mentioned in srimad bhagavatam 3-11-12
