Electricity and time required to heat water
Electricity required to heat water
P = (4.2 × Liters × Temp diff ) ÷ 3600 in kwh
to boil 10 liters of water from 25 to 100 degrees
=4.2X10X75/3600
=0.875 kwh for 10 ltrs
=0.0875 kwh per ltr
charges at INR 6 per unit 6X0.0875 = 0.525 rupees per 1 ltr.
time required to heat water
heating time = watts required/heater element rating in kw
now take watts required to boil 10 ltrs of water 0.875 kwh
assume we use 1000 watts heater
then time =0.875/1 = 0.875 hours
so to boil 10 liters of water to 100 degrees from 25 degrees it takes 0.875 kwh of energy and 0.875 hours of time if we use 1000 watts heater.
