Ashwina poornima | sharad poornima

This pournami or poornima is very special as it is also believed that moon showers 'Amrit' (nectar) on the earth. On this fool moon night there is a tradition to make 'kheer' or milk rice pudding and place it under the open sky so it absorbs the moonlight and then it is consumed.

It is said that moon showers amrit and all that amrit is absorbed by the milk kheer placed under moonlight during this night.

It is on this day that krishna performed rasalila with gopikas.
